Claudia Weber
NCBWL President 2023-25

“He is not here; He has risen! Remember how He told you while He was still with you in Galilee: 'The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and, on the third day, be raised again.”

(Luke 24: 6-7)

I pray that you and your loved ones were refreshed by our Easter celebrations. The Chrism Mass, seeing our diocese’s priests gathered, was an inspiration to me. I am reminded that God truly came to us to relieve us of anxiety, to help us to live not in fear, but in the joy of our salvation. He is Risen, Alleluia.

Last month, our League continued its tour of high schools, having a lovely dinner at St. Cecilia Academy, hosted by Sr. Dominic and Sharon Huber.  We will be lunching at Pope John Paul II Prep on the 17th and will present the third scholarship check as a result of our 2023 fundraising efforts.

The board seeks nominations for the position of President-Elect and our members are encouraged to send nominations to me for a Board meeting vote on April 20th.  We need to plan for my successor. A link to the nomination form is found on the upper right corner of the Board of Directors page of the website.

A member survey was distributed at our March meeting and is being circulated to all members. Let's extend the return date to April 10. It, too, has a link on the top corner of the site's Board of Director's page. Also, Pearls of Wisdom event committees are being formed and opportunities abound for members to join the board in our fundraising efforts.

Please contact me or the event chairs, Courtney Conklin, and Lauren Barca when you can offer your time or treasure to make our efforts a true team effort.  We have our membership list posted inside the Member Portal on ncbwl.org.

Our wish list includes sponsorships, auction donations, marketing, and boots on the ground!

Meeting our scholars has been inspiring and motivating especially as Catholic education is becoming more precious for faithful and talented girls.

It’s time for Spring cleaning. The Ladies of Charity members do God’s work through the proceeds of the Consignment Sale. Please look around for gently-used shoes, PURSES, jewelry and clothing to bring to the April meeting. We have a delivery system in place! The sale ends April 27. You might find something you need there.

And all thanks and cheers to those in our League who already do so much and give me advice and guidance going forward. New members are being welcomed and supported along the way as we combine our faith with fun.

Connect with each other via our newsletter and website for more ways to support local businesses and social action efforts. But face-to-face gatherings are the best.

That’s how I know that Kim Breese can organize my closets and garage, Anne Sawasky can save me money, and Darcy Bomer can find me cute (and comfy) shoes!

Let’s do Lunch on the 17th!

Respectfully,

Claudia Weber
