President's Message June 2025
We were blessed at our May meeting to have Spiritual Chair Jennie Guinn, who is a life coach raised in our shared values, speak to us about saying “yes”. Mary’s acceptance of a surprising request from God is a high bar. In our childhood religion classes and in our adult attention to homilies and sermons and in our continued spiritual reading, the concept of responding to God’s call is repeated.
We are vessels. Many of us carry the love of God to others in our daily lives, giving “good example” to others, even in the popular theme of “paying it forward”. (I find that charming. I don’t drink coffee, I don’t stand in line to buy coffee, but I’ve seen it shown on television shows that people pre-pay for the next customer.) We serve God by serving His people. We live the Matthew 25 message, demonstrating faithfulness through acts of mercy. Look in the newsletter for the July activity announcement.
A message from the altar has resonated for me over the last few months. We are the tabernacle in the world, carrying Christ to our brothers and sisters in our daily interactions: responding to a need rather than reacting to an inappropriate behavior. Not all of us have helped children grow into mature persons, but all of us have experienced immature behavior from folks of all ages. Do we cluck our tongues, whisper to another, do we offer correction, or do we assess the real need and try to offer what is needed / requested?
Our League’s vision, To connect, support and encourage Catholic women to live their faith, offers us a community to build the strength we need to be the women God has designed us to be, to understand and stand strong in our beliefs, to be His hands on earth as we await our call to eternal life. I enjoy working with you.
May God bless us all,
Patricia M.
