St. Cecilia Scholarship Recipient:

Kaylee Contreras

Kaylee Contreras will graduate from St. Cecilia Academy in May 2019. She is still contemplating her college choices but is considering returning to the West Coast where she was born to attend college. Kaylee was born in Orange, California, south of LA and is the oldest of three children. She lived in Phoenix before moving to Franklin, Tenn., while in middle school and attended Page Middle before becoming a Scarab at St. Cecilia Academy.

"I liked my small school in Phoenix, everyone knew everyone," Kaylee explained. "SCA had that feeling and I wanted to go to a Catholic school." The NCBWL scholarship made that possible for Kaylee and she has taken full advantage of her time at SCA. She played volleyball for three years and ran varsity track freshman year and varsity swimming her junior and senior years. She is Sodality president, a Liturgy and Retreat Ambassador, a member of the Adventure Crew and a Search leader.

"I love the traditions at SCA -- Freshman Week, Spirit Week -- and other traditions like Interim," she said, adding that she gotten a chance to have more personal connections with teachers being at a smaller school like St. Cecilia Academy."
