2007 Inaugural Recipient Announced at Pope John Paul II High School
Ashleigh
Fraim, a member of St. Martha Church in Ashland City, has been named as
the inaugural recipient of the Nashville Catholic Business Women’s
League (NCBWL) scholarship at Pope John Paul II High School. Ashleigh
is the daughter of Paul and Teresa Fraim of Pleasant View. The
scholarship is awarded based on academic, extra-curricular and financial
qualifications. Ashleigh is an incoming student in JPII’s 2007-2008
freshman class and previously attended St. Ann school in Nashville.
With
this newly established scholarship at JPII, the NCBWL now funds
scholarships for young Catholic women at all three area Catholic high
schools. Other recipients include Lauren Herrera, a senior at St.
Cecilia Academy, and Caitlin Page, a sophomore at Father Ryan High
School. The NCBWL awards its scholarship at each school once every four
years and provides support for all four years of high school. The
scholarships are named in memory of Aurelia Varallo Mariani, a 1951
graduate of St. Cecilia Academy.
The NCBWL funds its scholarships
mainly through the proceeds and patron donations relating to its annual
fall luncheon, silent auction and fashion show.
2006
Recipient Announced at Fr. Ryan High School
Caitlin Page, a member of St. Henry Church in Nashville, has been named as the recipient of the Nashville Catholic Business Women’s League’s Aurelia Varallo Mariani endowed scholarship at Father Ryan High School. Caitlin is the daughter of Michael and Debby Page of Nashville. The scholarship is awarded based on academic, extra-curricular and financial qualifications. Caitlin is an incoming student in Father Ryan’s 2006-2007 freshman class. She previously attended St. Henry school and plays volleyball for Father Ryan. The previous scholarship recipients, Brooke and Brittany Oldham, graduated from Father Ryan in 2006.
Endowment Completed at St. Cecilia Academy in 2006
The Aurelia Varallo Mariani Scholarship Endowment Fund at Saint Cecilia Academy has been fully funded by the NCBWL's fundraising efforts. The endowment was started in 2000 and with the combination of yearly investments and interest earned on principal, the market value of the fund has reached a level where the interest generated each year will fund the scholarship given by the NCBWL at St. Cecilia, without eroding the endowment principal.
2004 Recipient Announced at St. Cecilia Academy
Lauren
Herrera, a member of St. Martha church in Ashland City, has been named
as the second recipient of the Nashville Catholic Business Women’s
League’s (NCBWL) Aurelia Varallo Mariani Endowed Scholarship at St.
Cecilia Academy. Lauren is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andres Herrera
of Pleasant View, TN. The scholarship is awarded based on academic,
extra-curricular and financial qualifications. Lauren is an incoming
student in St. Cecilia’s 2004-2005 freshman class. The previous
recipient of this scholarship, Theresa Diroff, graduated as class
valedictorian from St. Cecilia in 2004.
The Aurelia Varallo Mariani Scholarship Program
For several years the NCBWL has funded tuition scholarships for deserving young Catholic women in the middle Tennessee area. The scholarships are named in memory of Aurelia Varallo Mariani, a faithful and loving NCBWL member who graduated from St. Cecilia Academy in 1951. Her love for her alma mater and for this league continued until her untimely death in 1997.
